The short version
- You can search Find-Care without giving us any details at all.
- We never sell your details, and we never pass them to anyone without your consent.
- We ask for your contact details and the kind of care you are looking for. We do not ask for medical or diagnosis details.
- When you request a shortlist, your enquiry goes only to the providers introduced to you, and you are told who they are before you confirm.
- You can ask us at any time for a copy of your details, or to correct or delete them.
- This policy is a draft awaiting legal review. Anything still undecided is marked on the page rather than guessed at.

Who we are#
Find-Care (www.find-care.co.uk) is a care directory for England. It lists care homes and home care agencies that are rated Good or Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission, or that we have vetted directly, and introduces families who enquire to them.
Find-Care is operated by Find-Care Limited, registered in England and Wales, company number 17403068, with its registered office at 44-48 North Road, Lancaster, Lancashire, United Kingdom, LA1 1PA, which is the data controller for the details described on this page.
What we collect#
Searching the directory and reading provider pages asks nothing of you. There is no account to create, and you can use the whole site without telling us who you are.
If you choose to send an enquiry, the form asks for:
- your name, phone number and email address
- the postcode where care is needed
- who the care is for, the type of care you are looking for, how soon it is needed, and how it is likely to be funded
- how often care is needed, for a care at home enquiry
- your current situation, for example whether it is urgent or you are browsing
- an optional note about preferences, limited to 250 characters
We do not ask about health. The enquiry form asks for preferences only, and asks you not to include medical or diagnosis details. Providers will discuss care needs with you directly.
How your details are used and shared#
An enquiry is an introduction. With your consent, we pass the details you gave in the form to up to 3 local care providers that match what you asked for, so they can contact you by phone or email about your enquiry. If you built a shortlist yourself, your enquiry goes to the providers you chose.
No contract is formed through Find-Care. If you go ahead with a provider, you agree terms directly with them, and what you share with them from that point is covered by their own privacy policy.
We never sell your details, and we do not share them with anyone else for marketing.
Email from us. The enquiry form has one optional tick box, asking whether Find-Care may email you guidance about arranging care. It is unticked unless you tick it, and leaving it unticked changes nothing about your enquiry or how providers respond to you. Our lawful basis for that email is your consent, which is separate from the enquiry itself, and we record your answer with the enquiry. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing hello@find-care.co.uk. What we do with the details you give us is set out in plainer terms on what we do with your details.
We check for repeat enquiries. When a new enquiry arrives we compare it with enquiries from the last 30 days, so that a provider is not charged twice for introducing the same family. That check uses the contact details you gave and nothing else.
Three service companies process data on our behalf so the website can run: Vercel, which hosts the site; Supabase, which stores enquiry records; and Microsoft, which delivers our email. All three act only on our instructions.
How long we keep your details#
We keep your enquiry with your contact details on it for 3 years. That is how long a question can realistically arise about an introduction we made, and care decisions are rarely quick.
After 3 years we strip out what identifies you. Your name is deleted, your phone number is reduced to its last three digits, and your email address is reduced to its first letter and the part after the @. What is left is a record that we introduced somebody to a provider on a date, which is enough to answer a dispute about a charge and not enough to contact you or to pick you out of a list.
At 6 years the last of that is deleted. We keep it that long because six years is the period during which a commercial dispute over an invoice can be brought, and our income comes from charging providers for introductions.
Billing records (which provider was invoiced, when, and for how much) are kept for 6 years, because HMRC requires business records to be kept for that long. They are about the provider, not about you.
We also keep anonymous, aggregated figures indefinitely, for example how many enquiries came from a postcode district and what type of care they asked about. These are counts, not records about people, and they cannot be traced back to you.
Our lawful basis#
Every form on Find-Care that takes personal details asks for your consent first, with a link to this page, and you can withdraw that consent at any time.
Under UK GDPR, the lawful basis we rely on for each use of your details is:
- Consent, when you send an enquiry and we share it with the providers you chose. You can withdraw it at any time.
- Contract, for the details a provider gives us to hold their account, appear on the site and be invoiced.
- Legitimate interests, for running and securing the website, checking for repeat enquiries so a provider is not charged twice, and verifying providers against the Care Quality Commission’s public records.
- Legal obligation, for the billing records HMRC requires us to keep.
Your rights#
UK data protection law gives you rights over your details, including the right to:
- ask for a copy of the details we hold about you
- have them corrected if they are wrong
- have them deleted
- withdraw your consent at any time
To use any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
Cookies#
With your consent, we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. Neither loads, and no analytics cookie is set, unless you choose “Accept analytics” on the cookie notice, and you can choose “Essential only” instead at any time.
What we do use, all of it strictly functional and none of it needing a consent banner:
- a sign-in cookie, set only when a provider or a member of our team signs in, which is what keeps them signed in;
- the anti-bot check on our enquiry forms, provided by Cloudflare Turnstile, which may set its own functional cookie while it runs and does not track you across sites;
- your own browser’s storage for things that never leave your device unless you act on them: the shortlist you build while browsing, a draft enquiry so a page reload does not lose your typing, and a provider’s unsaved profile edits.
The shortlist you can build while browsing is saved in your own browser, not on our servers. It is only used if you send an enquiry to your shortlisted providers.
Common questions#
Questions and complaints#
If you have a question about this page, want a copy of your details, or want them corrected or deleted, email hello@find-care.co.uk.
If something on a provider’s listing is wrong, tell us at support@find-care.co.uk. If you are worried about the safety or wellbeing of somebody receiving care, please do not report it to us: we are a directory, not a regulator, and we cannot act on it. Contact the Care Quality Commission and the social services department of the local council, who can.
If you are not happy with how your details have been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
